With Fervency

With Fervency

Focus Scriptures: Luke 22:15, James 4:8, Psalm 27:8, Jeremiah 29:13

There’s a new spiritual urgency in the air. I can feel it. A different kind than the one that was there just 10 days ago. Each year that passes is a year closer to Him returning. And so, it’s no wonder that He beckons us louder and louder to come closer and closer. And to come with zeal and passion. There’s a worship song I love that says, “If You’re calling, we’re coming. We’re not walking, we’re running.”  With fervency I will pursue. With fervency I will respond to the call to draw closer and closer. This is my stance for 2025. This is my stance for all my life.

As I was reading His word the other day, I came upon a scripture in Luke chapter 22 when Jesus has the Passover meal with His disciples. He tells them that with fervent desire He has desired to eat that meal with them before He suffers. Immediately that word fervent jumped out at me. Jesus made it a point to say He fervently desired to eat that meal with them. He passionately, zealously, wanted to have that meal with them. At that point He was just days away from His death and He would no longer be with them the way He had been. He knew they needed to have this last meal with Him because what was to come, even beyond His death and resurrection. He fervently desired to meet and share with them one more time.

This fervent desire didn’t die at the cross. It’s still alive, still pursuing you, still desiring to meet with you.

In all honesty, it didn’t even cross my mind to talk about this for the first entry of the new year. I was thinking I was going to talk about rest lol But when I had asked the Lord what He wanted to say He brought me back to two words: with fervency. So of course I obey. And I wholeheartedly believe that this year’s Pretty Words Blog will be a mixture of both grace and grit. Grace because He loves you and loves to encourage and uplift you. And grit because He is fervently calling for you to come closer as the day is coming closer. May you desire with fervent desire to come closer. Closer than you’ve ever been.

As always,

Be Pretty, Be You

You are so fervently loved
