Look At God

Focus Scriptures: 2 Kings 4:1-7
There’s a particular area in my life that the Lord is growing me. Actually in both mine and my husband’s lives. It’s a particular area that is stretching us and calling out a certain kind of obedience and trust that we’ve never had to really exercise before. But the way that God has been moving in our lives during this time has been mind blowing, and every time He does we look at each other and say, “Look at God.”
There are so many “look at God” instances in the Bible that it’s hard to count them all. However, one I want to focus on is a woman in the second book of Kings. This woman’s husband died and now she’s left with all his debt to pay. The creditors are coming to her to pay it all or they’ll take her two sons as slaves. She calls out to Elisha the prophet and tells him the situation. Elisha then asks her what she has in her home in which she replies that all she has is a jar of olive oil. He tells her to go collect a lot of empty jars from neighbors, go inside her home and fill them with the oil. Once one is full she is to put it aside and fill the next.
Here’s the “look at God” moment…
She fills every. single. jar.
The Lord kept the oil flowing until the very last jar was full. All of them full from one jar of oil. Wow! After, she tells Elisha she filled all the jars and had no jars left. Elisha then tells her to go sell all of the jars and pay off the debts and then live off of what’s left. This tells me that the Lord supplied way more than enough for her! Look. At. God! The Lord moved in her situation and showed just who He is. Awesome, powerful, faithful, provider, and so much more.
The same God from that story is the same God today. The same God that can fill 10,000 jars with oil from the same one jar. He’s the same God that can keep the oil flowing until every one of your jars are full. In the times when you’re unsure of what’s going to happen God can come in and do something wildly amazing for you. Something that only He can do. And I hope that in those moments you’ll find yourself daily saying, “Look at God!”
As always,
Be pretty. Be you.
