Focus scriptures: Job 23:10, 2 Timothy 2:20-21
“You see what’s hidden under the surface. You see the beauty under the tarnish. You will find in fire what You call gold.”
In a previous entry I talked about Job and how Job went through various trials but still remained with the Lord. If you read about Job you would have read how extensive his trials were. But there’s a scripture in there where he says that the Lord knows his way and after all the testing he will come out like gold. In other words, after being in the fire he will come out gold. Job came out better than when he first went into it.
Now, I’m a gold girl. Love the color gold, love gold jewelry, I just gravitate to gold lol But if I’m being completely honest, I’d rather not be put into any type of fire to reveal the gold in me spiritually. However, I know it’s necessary to remove the tarnish from my heart. And I know it’s because He loves me.
In the book of 2 Timothy Paul talks about different utensils made of different materials. Some of gold and silver, some of wood and clay. The expensive ones are used for special occasions and the cheap ones are for everyday use. He’s using this analogy to teach us to live pure so we can be a special utensil for honorable use. This comes by allowing the Lord to continue to refine and uncover the gold through fire. But remember, it’s because He loves you and knows who you can be. He knows the value you have because He gave it to you.
There really is beauty under the tarnish. Before tarnish there was shine. There was gleaming beauty. But if you don’t keep up with cleaning and polishing that gold it will lose its luster and become dull and dirty. And nothing reveals that gold’s purity like putting it back in the fire. Looking at this from a spiritual perspective, the Lord will never be ok with leaving us that way. He is too good and too kind to leave us tarnished and dull. He truly sees what’s hidden under the surface because He made it and only His purifying fire can bring that beautiful, shiny gold to the surface.
As always,
Be pretty. Be you.
You are beautifully loved.
