Focus Scriptures: Daniel 3:16-18, Habakkuk 3:17-19
My husband and I have this one statement that we say in every circumstance. A statement that steadies us and reminds us who we serve. A statement that is rooted in God’s very true word and has sustained us in our trust in Him. Two powerful words…even if.
In Daniel chapter 3 three men were about to be thrown into a fiery furnace all because they refused to stop worshiping God to worship the then king. They were warned but they didn’t care. I’m sure many assumed they’d concede because they valued their lives too much, but they valued their God much more. So with confidence they said, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”
Your majesty. I’m sensing sarcasm lol Reminding the king that he really isn’t the true Majesty, but that in this particular situation they will obey his command to be put into the furnace. If you read the whole passage you’ll see that the Lord did in fact save them because He was with them in the middle of that fire. The fourth man. Now follow me to another passage found in Habakkuk. Scripture after scripture it says even if, even if, even if. And in the end it says that they will still be happy in Lord and find joy in the God who saves them! So amazing. So, my husband and I say this every time we find ourselves in a trial or hardship. We say this on the mountain top knowing it’s by His grace we’re there and are kept there, but it can change in a moment. We say this in the valleys when there’s no way out in sight and it seems to go on for miles. Even if, we still.
So, even if you never receive what you dream of. Even if your finances never get better. Even if your situation doesn’t change. Will you still? Because even if, God is still good. Even if, God is still faithful. And even if, He is still worthy of worship. Even if.
As always,
Be pretty. Be you.
You are always loved.
