Clear Out The Clutter

Focus Scriptures: Psalm 68:19, 1 Peter 5:7, Matthew 11:30
Clutter. Just hearing that word makes me feel claustrophobic. I can't stand to have clutter in my room, in my house, in my car. I can't stand to have it anywhere. Just ask my husband lol It's unnecessary stuff that gets piled in so many unnecessary places. Like that annoying pile of mail that accumulates until I start going crazy trying to organize it all. I will say it again, it’s unnecessary stuff that gets gathered and stored in unnecessary places.
Isn't this so true with our spiritual lives as well? We let so much stuff just sit there in different compartments of our minds and hearts, and it weighs on us, but for some reason it's so hard to let Him clear it out. We foolishly think that we have control of this out of control issue. Clutter has a way of filling our minds and hearts to the point where it starts to weigh us down. Clutter is what makes it hard to fully surrender and trust God. We can become so guarded and protective of something that the Lord wants to remove because it’s actually hurting us. We say to God that we’ll give Him our hearts as long as He ignores and leaves that one area alone. I know because I’ve said that before. But God wants uncluttered devotion. He wants wholehearted relationship with nothing in the way. And trust me when I say that His way is so much better.
He is a God of peace and order, which is what He wants to give you in your mind and heart. His word says that He daily bears our burdens. So why hold on to them? Trade it for His yoke that is easy and His burden that is light. He invites us to cast our cares upon Him. He wants a clear pathway. When it’s clear we see Him more clearly and we hear His voice better. It’s there where we have freedom. That clutter you’re holding onto serves you no purpose. Let Him in those places to gently clear it out. The more we allow Him to declutter our lives the more His peace can overflow and reign.
As always,
Be pretty. Be you.
You are so, so loved
