Compare To None

Focus Scriptures: Galatians 6:4-5, Gen.1:27, Psalm 139:13-18, Eph. 2:10, Jer. 29:11

Comparison is a killer. Oof! Such a bold statement, but no less true. If we allow it, comparison will kill our God given creativity, identity, joy, vision, and so many other things. I'm convinced that the phrase, "stay in your lane" was created because too many were too busy worrying about what the other person was doing. Focusing so much on someone else's life that we lose sight of the wonderful one that God has given us. 

I get it, I honestly do. I speak not from a hypocritical place, but an experiential one. 

The fact of the matter is that comparison gets all of us at one point or another. The "she's so much better at x,y,z than me." Or "she has better x,y,z than me." And on and on. But God's design of us and our lives was never meant to be compared to the next. We all are made in His image. All of us. Not one more than other. How mind blowing is that? All have been marked with His image. And since that's the truth then aren't we all just comparing His image with His image when we think someone looks better? And aren't we just comparing His work in our lives with His work in someone else's when we think someone has it better? 

One thing that I've learned about comparison is that it always leads to competitiveness and it always leads to jealousy. We can become envious and covetous of what other's have. It can even mess with our self esteem and worth. All of it birthed from the lies of comparison. Heavy stuff, I know. But again, I'm speaking from experience.

This is why God desires us to live free from it. Free from the trap that their grass is the better kind of green than ours is. Remember there is only ONE you. Yes, even if you're a twin lol. Only you can do what you do. Only you have that plan curated specifically for your life. Only you have that beautiful face. Only you have that amazing personality. Only you have that awesome creativity. Just You! Rest in that. Rest in the truth that no one else can compare with what He has created in you. Let's base ourselves on what God made us to be and do, not against another because it truly is unique to each. 

He doesn't compare because He is secure and proud of what He created in each of us. He loves what He sees when He looks at us. He loves the way some can paint and some can sing. He loves that some are math wizards, (not me lol), and some are amazing writers. He loves His handiwork. Let us be secure in who He has made us to be and where He has called us to be, because He is. I know, I know, easier said than done sometimes. We're human. It happens. But we can be certain that the One who made us took His time to make us an individual. And it goes the same with all He has planned for our lives.

So, precious woman, don't worry. He has a great plan for you. Plans for good, for a hope and a future. A plan that is specifically for you. And a plan that nothing else compares to.
